Apple and Cinnamon Jam

As the leaves fall and the air turns crisp, this autumnal apple and cinnamon jam brings a touch of warmth to your kitchen. The cosy blend of sweet apples and fragrant cinnamon is the perfect complement to the cool weather.

    Ingredients and Method

    Ingredients

    • 1 Kg apples
    • 300g sugar
    • 1/2 lemon (juiced)
    • 2 tsp ground cinnamon

    Method

    1. Place the chopped apple and caster sugar into a large saucepan with 350ml of water and bring to a gentle simmer, stirring to dissolve the sugar.
    2. Allow to gently simmer for about 30 minutes, stirring often.
    3. Stir in the lemon juice and the cinnamon and simmer gently for another 2-3 mins until the mixture is thick and glossy.
    4. Check it is ready by putting a dab on a frozen plate, if it is runny then cook it for a further 10 minutes or so.
    5. Serves 6 x 0.25 litre jars, keeps for 3 months.
