Christmas Kilner® Jars
Store your cookies for Santa in these beautiful hand-decorated Christmas Kilner® Jars.
You will need:
- Kilner® Universal Push Top Jars
- Alcohol based cleaner
- Spray paint in your chosen colour
- Clear spray lacquer
- Vinyl Decals
- Protective Face mask & gloves
Step 1
Prepare your Kilner® Jar by removing the rubber seal from the lid and cleaning the lid and jar with an alcohol based cleaning solution (allow to dry).
Step 2
Choose a well-ventilated area, this will protect you from paint fumes. Outdoors is best although not essential.
Step 3
Check the paint spray can for the proper spraying distance and drying times before you begin painting.
Step 4
Keeping your Kilner® Jar and lid separate, use a left to right sweeping motion whilst rotating your jar.
Step 5
Repeat until your jar is thoroughly coated and you have achieved your desired look.
Step 6
Follow the same steps as above but this time using the protective clear lacquer following the instructions on the spray can.
Step 7
Leave to dry for 24 hours minimum.
Step 8
Apply vinyl decal by removing the backing paper and transferring the image to your jar in your chosen place. If your jar is not dry before applying vinyl the paint will pull away.
Aftercare
Jars should only be wiped clean with a damp cloth and not submerged in water.
