Kilner Rocky Road Popcorn Makes Movie Nights Magical

One of the best things about winter is being able to snuggle up on the sofa to watch festive movies.

Gather your loved ones together for a night worth staying in for.

Bring down a duvet, make the popcorn and put a movie on.

Rocky Road Popcorn


-50g salted butter

-70g popcorn kernels

-60g milk chocolate, melted

-65g mini marshmallows

-65g malted chocolate balls


-Melt the butter in a large, deep pan that has a tight fitting lid. Add the popcorn kernels and stir to ensure each one is coated in butter.

-Turn the heat down to low and place the lid on the pan. Leave to cook until you hear popping. Do not take the lid off the pan. Leave until the popping sound begins to slow down.

-Holding the lid down, shake the pan gently to avoid the popcorn burning at the bottom of the pan.

-Remove from the heat and leave the lid on for a few minutes.

-Spread the popcorn out onto a baking tray and drizzle with melted chocolate. Leave to set.

-Next add the marshmallows and malted chocolate balls and combine.

-Fill into Kilner jars as gifts for friends and family or a cheeky snack.

Top 5 Kilner Drinks Dispenser Autumn Tipples

We have tasted some unusual, delicious and down right weird winter drinks to finally come up with our top 5 favourite beverages to serve in our stunning new Kilner drinks dispenser.

Here are our top 5:

  1. Our ultimate drinks dispenser autumn  tipple is Sour but Soothing Lemonade


This sour but delicious drink will warn away all manner of colds, sore throats and general winter coughs.

Sour but Smoothing Lemonade

The juice of 7 lemons

1 litre of water boiled first and left to cool to room temperature

7 teaspoons of brown sugar

1 teaspoon of rose water

Simply add all the ingredients to the freshly squeezed lemon juice and enjoy.

  1. Winter Warming Mulled Wine. Adults only

The taste of Christmas, our festive drink will leave you feeling warm and mellow.

1 part red wine

1 part lemonade

3 teaspoons of cinnamon

3 teaspoons of nutmeg

2 table spoons of brown sugar

Pour all ingredients into a large pan and warm on a low heat. Do not boil. Once the drink has been warmed  add to your drinks dispenser and enjoy next to a roaring fire.

  1. Devil’s Blood Punch.

The perfect Halloween drink for adults.

This shockingly good beverage will leave you feeling brave enough to face any demon in the night.

1 litre of lemonade

100ml of raspberry juice

100ml of blackberry juice

6 shots of Vodka

  1. Autumn Spice

This drink is great for the kids.

1 litre of ginger ale (non alcoholic)

1 litre of lemonade

4 cinnamon sticks

3 teaspoons of nutmeg

Top with brown sugar

Add all ingredients into your drinks dispenser and stir thoroughly.

  1. Kilner’s Hot Toddy

To sleep soundly during the cold winter nights, with a dripping nose and a tickly cough, try a Kilner Hot Toddy. Adults only

Add a couple of shots of whiskey to your drinks dispenser.

Add 1 litre of water, boiled first then left to cool to slightly above room temperature.

Add 5 teaspoons of brown sugar

Tip. Add a slice of lemon to each glass

Stir thoroughly and enjoy immediately.

Kilner Jar Pumpkin Chutney, Perfect for Halloween

Pumpkin Chutney

A delicious recipe, perfect for Halloween.

Based on a classic mango chutney, this is sure to go down a storm with a curry at Halloween!
  • 1kg pumpkin or butternut squash, diced (prepared weight)
  • 1 medium onion
  • 1 inch piece ginger, grated
  • 3 cloves garlic, grated/crushed
  • 500g sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp chilli flakes
  • 3 cardamom pods
  • 5 peppercorns
  • 250ml cider vinegar
  • 1 tsp black onion seeds
1. Crack the cardamom pods open to remove the seeds and discard the shells. Grind the seeds, together with the chilli flakes and peppercorns then toast in a preserving pan or other large heavy-bottomed pan until warm and fragrant.
2. Add the rest of the ingredients except the sugar to the pan along with 250ml water and simmer over a medium heat for 30 minutes, stirring frequently.
3. Add the sugar to the pan and stir until completely dissolved. Leave to simmer for a further hour, stirring every now and then. If the chutney looks too dry, add a little extra water. If too watery, simmer for longer.
4. The pumpkin should be tender at this stage, so now you can decide the texture of the finished chutney. Left as it is, it will be fairly chunky but if you want it to be completely smooth, use a blender to puree it. I wanted it somewhere in the middle, so used a potato masher to break down some of the chunks but left some in.
5. Pot up into sterilised jars and leave to cool completely.
Store for 2 weeks or so before eating to allow the flavours to mature.

Prep time: 15 mins Cook time: 1 hour 30 mins Total time: 1 hour 45 mins Yield: Around 1l of finished chutney

Autumn Preparations with #MyKilner Jar

Autumn is here and with it comes comfort food, cosy nights in and creative interior ideas.

There is nothing better than enjoying piping hot soup after battling the wet and windy weather outside.

Try this heart warming butternut squash soup and pour it lovingly into your favourite Kilner jar.

Comforting Butternut Squash Soup


1 butternut squash

1 onion

2 cloves of garlic

500g vegetable stock

75ml of olive oil

150ml double cream

Salt and pepper


  1. Preheat the oven to gas mark 6
  2. Peal and dice the butternut squash. Place on baking try and drizzle with olive oil. Bake for about half an hour.
  3. In a frying pan with 1tbs of olive oil, fry the onion. Add the garlic and season with salt.
  4. In a large pan boil the vegetable stock and add the onion and garlic.
  5. Blend the butternut squash in a food processor and add to the pan.
  6. Simmer for ten minutes and add a little more salt and pepper.
  7. Pour in the double cream.
  8. Take off the heat and allow to cool slightly.
  9. Pour lovingly into your favourite kilner jar and enjoy.

Kilner Spiced Apple Butter

Make delicious, dairy free apple butter with our simple recipe.

You will need:

1.5kg of cooking apples

450g sugar

5 cloves

1 cinnamon stick

5 tbsp. water

1) Carefully cut your apples into big chunks, without pealing or coring. Add the apples to a pan of water and bring to the boil.

2) Add the cinnamon and cloves to the pan and allow to simmer for half an hour.

3)Sieve the pulp to remove any seeds, peal or cloves.

4)Add the puree to a pan and slowly dissolve in the sugar.

5) Allow to simmer and stir occasionally.

6) Remove from the heat and carefully spoon into hot sterilized Kilner jars and seal.

They make the perfect winter treat or homemade present.
